PHILOSOPHY
With the challenges in life becoming tougher each and every year, the pressure to succeed is at an all time high. Whether the pressure is self imposed, parent imposed or peer pressure, the fact is that performance suffers greatly when an individual feels stressed and unconfident. Mentoring is an invaluable tool to allow an outside perspective to help see the road ahead. Dan Metcalfe, having worked closely with so many youth and adults, developed the DMS11 mentoring system to help accelerate the rise to inner confidence and success. Dan has helped Hollywoods top actors, National team players and your everyday goal driven individuals to produce their best performances, time and time again. His motivation came from seeing, over many years, people, not just players, underachieving. He would help raise their level of self belief and became a mentor and inspiration to all he was fortunate to work with. His desire to help as many as possible to reap the rewards of success led to a new concept in touching the lives of those unable to personally meet, but wanting the personal connection to Dan, or his team, to become a more confident, happier and successful person, day after day. Each and every player has the potential and opportunity to be invaluable, both on the field, and off. Too many times we focus on the ‘Super Star’, or the captain, or worse still, the politically positioned player. Yet within every team, player and person, the opportunity presents itself to be as dynamic and important as anyone else. At DMS11 we have created a program to build each player, parent or coaches worth and confidence. DMS - Discipline, Motivation, Success. 11 - The 11 stands for each and every player, on any team, that steps into the field of play. We know that any team working together is stronger than a group of individuals. DMS11 provides an environment and support system that allows anyone to comfortably evaluate and develop themselves without fear of being vulnerable to negativity. With the study of psychology and advancement in development of players, DMS11 will help players to learn how to work through sticking points. There are 3 steps that will occur. Firstly, the mentor will communicate with the player/coach/parent and break down the mental, physical, (or both) obstacles that are limiting forward momentum. Secondly, we will work together to find the best solutions to not only move forward in the initial problem areas, but work to on handling future sticking points with confidence and intelligence. Finally, we set future short and long term goals so the vision of the future can be achieved. The important thing for any player, or person in life, is to be part of the game, and be able to compete and feel their worth. In life there are two kinds of people, players and spectators. The separating factor is the opportunity to be in the game. Even a group of 18 players is limited to the number on the field. Every time a player enters the game he/she becomes one of the 11. Only then is the opportunity to show the passion and talent a possibility. It is at this moment that the DMS11 program comes into its own. Within the 11 are individuals. However, working to the power of 11 is a team player, with their individual strengths used to positively impact the other 10. For example, 11 to the power of 10 is not as powerful as 11 to the power of 11. As in the design of the DMS11 logo, with discipline and motivation, success will be achieved to a higher level when playing with the power of 11 players fully committed. The opportunity at every moment has two possibilities. Positive or negative. There is either a positive impact, or there is not. How do you utilize all your talents, improve your weaknesses and present the very best you? There are so many ways to impact your performance, to empower yourself, to lead the team, to leverage your value and to rise to higher levels. It is not just about the ball. In fact, the ball is the least of your worries when it comes to individual power. If you only have the ball for 2 minutes a game (a high time when considering the many aspects) then what are you doing for the rest of the 58, 68, 78 or 88 minutes? To build confidence, to bring out the leader in any player, to help a player understand how to overcome fears, doubts, or even plateaus, we at DMS11 will find the right elements to enhance opportunity and remove confusion. Dan Metcalfe wrote a book, “How to become a better soccer player and impress any coach.” So many times a player is trying to win approval of their trainer/coach. But the truth is, no one can know what that person is thinking. However, there are golden rules and guaranteed actions that will help get you noticed as a player and as a person. Put the lessons into action and the game of life becomes easier, and the game of soccer more successful and more fun. This program is not only for players, but for parents and coaches. Many parents have used our knowledge and experience to learn how to handle adversities. From non-playing time to political situations, we can help guide you to a positive result without fear of emotional retaliation against the family or the player. As parents, the fear of hurting your child with confrontation paralyzes the natural ability to communicate. We will help guide you through steps to feel more comfortable as you confront issues that can have huge ramifications. Coaches have found this program invaluable. As the team, season or players improve, or don’t, coaches have used the DMS11 strategy to improve their own performance. It is very easy to look at the players and complain of their lack of passion, hard work, dedication or talent. However, before we look at them, DMS11 will help each coach look at their own performance and evaluate how they can get more out of themselves and inspire a positive reaction in their team/players. I challenge any coach to test our system and see the experience of positive improvement. To want to achieve higher levels of success, no matter what field, age or position, the desire has to be there to want to listen, learn, and look inside yourself to find out what you really want. Then take positive steps to make the change through a passion to become the complete power you can. It is not easy. If it was, everyone would do it. But once you make the decision, and have the people there to support you every step of the way, you can achieve and become whatever you want.
