Hey Dan, I just wanted to take a little time and thank you for everything you have done for me and my future. You have helped me out mentally and physically when I needed it. You were the person who gave me a chance on Cal South ODP team to play and get better as a soccer player. You have been the person who I would call when things weren't going well in my first season of professional soccer. I knew that you were someone I could trust and that someone who would tell me the right thing and put me in the right direction. It has been a pleasure to know you and to have played for you. I know that I can call you whenever I need mental support

Paul – Parent of a U14 soccer player
The knowledge, insight, preparation, and dedication to teaching that you provide to the young is unique.  While each individual develops and matures at his (or her) own pace, the lessons (and deserved rewards) of patience, focus, commitment, and hard work that you instill in these young athletes applies not only on the soccer field, but even more importantly away from the field. Learning to push oneself beyond their personal 'comfort zone' to the next level of achievement.   It is these lessons that willcarry them to future successes. I know my son will be positively affected forever … thank you.

Mike – Parent of  a Premier Level Soccer Player
In just a few short weeks, Dan has had a dramatic impact on my son's game, creating confidence not through either simply highly-focused drills, or an accessible communication of the nature of confidence, but rather, a blend of the two.  That is to say, he teaches basic, but critical fundamental skills which create the basis of being a confident player, and then bridges the physical techniques to the mental world of knowing one has those skills, therefore one is more confident.
He is also realistic, communicating the ebb-and-flow nature of football, within the context of knowing mistakes are inevitable and an intrinsic part of the game, with the idea that if you have the basic skills and self-knowledge of oneself as a player, confidence is not something that hinges on a single kick but rather on an attitude of accepting responsibility for one's actions -- good and bad -- and going forward with belief in oneself.
Dan's own intensity and confidence is also infectious, and my son takes that attitude with him into practices and games.  And in part, this is achieved through honesty, this is not a cuddling, coddling coach instilling a false sense of achievement, and then a false confidence.  He designs his programs to the strengths and weaknesses of an individual player, and makes both clear, the good with the bad.
In sum, if you're serious about soccer for you child, and want those aspirations approached in a serious fashion, then I heartily recommend Dan Metcalfe.
Blake and Sandra – Parents of 2 National Team Players –
Dan has a unique as well as valuable talent. If you are an individual/group that would like to reach your full potential, Dan is without a doubt a trainer you should contact. Both of my stepsons, with Dan’s help, have been involved with our youth National teams, U15’s, U17’s and the U18’s. As long as their desire stays strong I’m sure Dan will continue to aid in their advancement.
I have seen some of the methods Dan uses to bring out the full potential of someone willing to put in the work. Dan is able to ascertain a player’s level of experience and place the proper “stepping stones” needed to advance. Whether the player needs to be in better shape, understand the fast play at a higher level or just requires better ball control; Dan has the experience too achieve these skills and more. As an individual or group progress, Dan will continue to raise the level of training required. He has the ability to sense when someone has leveled off or has become too comfortable with their current performance.
Unlike other Coaches/Trainers Dan does not have to have you in front of him, on a field. What I mean to say is, above and beyond the person-to-person experience I have been fortunate enough to read some of his training methods via e-mail. These methods are detailed, inspirational and to the point. This particular method is very useful when someone is out of state or even the country for that matter.
Desire, this is a big part of what Dan has to offer. If the Desire to be the best exists, you will not be let down. Off-season, this is an important time when someone with the right drive can take advantage of Dan’s unique training. As the majority of our youth players enjoy their break and relax for a couple months, there will always be a number of players throughout our country that will be receiving instruction on how to reach the next level.
The fact that Dan can “break-it-down” for each individual allows him to control the progression so a Player/Coach won’t get burned out. With this in mind, there are times where an individual is ready for an accelerated program. I think this is something Dan really enjoys. When someone shows a little enthusiasm, Dan is able to raise the level at a faster rate. Taking someone to his or her full potential or his or her highest level of play is why Dan does this…. Not a lot of people get this much enjoyment from what they do. .
Kate – Female Soccer Player – ODp, Div 1 and National Team Member, Korea
It was 5:00 a.m., the sun was nowhere to be seen, the grass was covered in dew, I was bundled up in sweats, and my eyes were hardly open.  It was my first of five morning training sessions with Dan before I went to South Korea to try out for the U-17 Women’s National Team.  We met at 5:00 a.m. and trained for an hour and later on in the day, we met at 4:00 p.m. and trained until 5:30 p.m.  We did this for five straight days.  Dan would set up intense foot circuits, run through them once with me, and then set specific times for me to finish them in.  Now, you would expect that the more you did, the more tired you would get, and the slower you would be, but not in Dan’s eyes. If I didn’t make the time, I would do it again and again until I did make it.  But no matter what the outcome, Dan was always there, pushing me and encouraging me to give it my all.
After practice I wrote ….  TRUST YOURSELF! Mentally, it was so draining, but slowly, I was able to recognize what I was or wasn’t doing.  After five days of twice-a-day sessions, I was physically and mentally drained but so inspirationally educated.  The day before I left for Korea, Dan sent me an e-mail and told me to print it and read it on the plane.  In it, he told me to relax, be confident, but most of all, have fun and not think too much. I was ready and I was good enough.
Everything in Korea was very different, the weather, the culture and the customs, but every day I read Dan’s e-mails for his guidance and encouraging words.  The coaches were looking to select 20 of the 40 girls selected world wide to compete in the 2005 Asian Games.  Neither the girls nor the coaches spoke any English, so there was a huge language barrier. It just so happened that I had done lots of foot exercises with Dan, so I was very comfortable and confident.  The afternoon sessions were generally ball skills and drills, which included a lot of fast footwork.  Evening sessions were usually scrimmages or games against other club teams. With Dan’s training, I did everything from fast footwork, ball skills, shooting, checking to the ball, and passing.  I can honestly say that the simplest things … helped me the most because they were the bases for the practices and the games.  After five, three-a-day training sessions, I had been selected as one of the 20 girls to compete in the tournament.  It was such an honor to make the team…..
All of the things Dan has taught me have helped me become so much more aware of the game, as well as quicker, and more confident.  Thanks to Dan I am one step ahead of where I would normally be or where most girls are.
I have learned that your best coach is YOU because only YOU know what you need to do and only YOU can motivate yourself to get better.  But, if ever I have a soccer question, problem, or dilemma, or need inspiration I can call Dan and he is always there to give me advice.  Dan has been a wonderful trainer for me, but most of all, an irreplaceable mentor.
