American Soccer has come a long way in the last 10 years. Players now represent the US in the English Premier League, and have made a name for themselves and the talent in America. There is no question that the level of the American player is of a comparable athletic ability. However, how close are the best in the US compared to the best youth players representing the best England has to offer?

DMS11, the #1 U18 team in the USA, based in California, are preparing to finish their youth careers by challenging for the NATIONAL TITLE. This is the ONLY trophy that this top team has NOT won.

They will be traveling to England to face the professional youth teams of the Premiership. Playing 4 games in 11 days, these young men will be forced to compete against a level that will truly challenge them to the core. How will their journey to a foreign country develop the power of the 11 players on the field, and build a chemistry through adversity to bring home the USA National Championship?

Many of the players on DMS11 have little or no experience of traveling to other countries, soccer or no soccer. The players of DMS11 are stepping outside the comfort level of BIG DOG to find out if they can fight the Goliaths of the Soccer World.

Sport does not build character, it exposes it. See the players and find out what they are made of, what American soccer is made of, and ultimately, what pain will they go through to achieve a dream. 11 DAYS.

 

11 Days: the Journey to Discovery.

  • With the challenge of unknown competition, jet lag, cultural differences, new foods, climatic changes and a professionalism of soccer not seen before, the cameras will follow the players from the US to England and back again. Watching their every move, interacting with foreign ways, we will see the players having to adapt from a comfort zone into an unknown place. From the excitement of travel, to the reality we are here to prepare for a bigger goal. The honest and deep found standards will be tested. Discipline for Success. Motivation to do what you know is right. Girls, Clubs. Meetings. Shopping. Travel. All the things that go with the territory of changing continents.
  • Being disciplined enough to get the work done, or face the wrath of the Coach who is there to build the final force of the DMS11 team. Professional Youth coaches will put on training sessions at the various clubs. Professional players will meet the DMS11 players and give advice. True passion of the fans when the DMS11 team goes to the Premier League games and the level of fire in each fans blood will be thrown in the face of these Americans.
  • We will have the opportunity to let each soccer loving person in the US get the a chance to live their own dream through the lives of these young men. What is it really like to play abroad? What does it take to get these opportunities? How many players actually go on to success? What is the foreign coaching like compared to the US? And what do the Professional Coaches REALLY feel about the US players they will work with?
  • Never before a team openly portray the complete workings of a top youth team in the US and the possible weaknesses as well as strengths they possess. The inner squad fights, overcoming individual desires for the sake of the team, or letting down the group for personal gain, thus making the TEAM and the 11 null and void. The viewers will see how important team work is, and take it back to their own teams, work place and families. We will expose the power of the team, or the affect one weakness can be to the detriment of the 11 fighting for success.
  • DMS11 players will expose their own levels to viewers to present the next steps needed to build the US into a world force.

  • All these boys have very differing reasons to go. Some need experience, some need exposure and some need a chance. Watch as they peel the layers of their passion moment by moment to find out just how much difference 11 days can make.

  • We will be training at the Fulham ground and receiving coaching from their youth staff. Les Reed, technical director of Fulham FC. Les was Director of the English FA and has been the top soccer education teacher in the UK for many years. Respected for his undeniable knowledge and calm demeanor, Les will give an insight to the players never before seen by a US team. Les will be honest, blunt and specific with analysis of the team, direction, strengths and weaknesses. We will see the players train on these and work to eliminate the weaknesses prior to National Championships.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCERS

Dan Metcalfe - Creator and Founder of DMS11. Having played at Professional Clubs in England as a teen, Dan moved his talents to Musical Theater. Having played the Lead in many West End Productions, including Andrew Lloyd Weber shows, Dan moved to the US to star in movies and TV. His belief that "someone will live the dream, why not you?", Taking the knowledge of soccer and acting, Dan worked with Universal Studios to create and direct all the soccer in Kicking and Screaming with Will Ferrell and Robert Duvall. The project was a hit, becoming the top grossing Soccer Movie of all time in the USA. He did the same for She's The Man, starring Amanda Bynes. Since those projects Dan has 2nd Unit directed on feature movies and continued to be a creator and leader shows including the Gracie movie, Price of Dreams, Gatorade National Team training DVD, has created projects for Nike, Champion, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Reebok, Pizza Hut, Snickers and so on. He has also created the Nationally acclaimed Soccer training series DVD's, Super Soccer Skills.

Dan has put together a team of specialists in California to bring Discipline, Motivation and Experiences to all those willing to step out of the comfort and into the future, their future. This documentary is his vision, showing that hard work and team work can create opportunities to live life to the fullest. The trials, tests and ultimate victories are not just on the soccer field, but in life itself. Now millions will see those who risk get the toughest test of their playing lives. The project will be inspirational and touch the lives and passion of every soccer player in the USA.

Lemore Syvan - Founder of Elevation Filmworks, a production company based in New York City. Lemore is an award winning independent producer. She collaborated with Dan Metcalfe on her latest production GRACIE, a girl soccer film, directed by Oscar Winner Davis Guggenheim and starring Carley Shcroeder, Dermut Mulroney, Elisabeth Shue and Andrew Shue. LEMORE BRINGS A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE AND BELIEF IN THE PROJECT. She has worked with many of the very best in the entertainment industry, both on and off camera.

Mark Burnett - will be working closely with Dan to help make this project not only unique, but completely successful. Mark is an entity to TV who has proven to be the most powerful producer on TV in the USA. Mark has produced the top TV shows including Survivor, The Apprentice, The contender, Smarter than a fifth grader, the new my dads better than your dad, eco challenge and many more.

Paul Taublieb - award winning Documentarian. Based in Malibu, Paul will bring huge experience after receiving 12 National Awards for his documentary, THE LOST WAVE. Paul works extensively with ESPN and the X-Games, producing some of the most thrilling and powerful sports shows on TV today.
